Description of Services |
I work with all populations, children, adolescents, couples, and
individuals. I specialize in adults who were traumatized as children. I
work from the frame that one's childhood has a marked influence on our
behavior as we grow. I believe that understanding and working through the
experiences both past and present allows for a healthy perspective. It is
necessary to be able to differentiate feelings, experiences, and
perceptions that are "old" from those that occur in the present. To
understand the similarities and differences allow one to grow. In trauma
work the "impotent rage" that is present because as a child one is
helpless and over time becomes hopeless. Trauma work allows the client to
see and experience their past from the present. It allows an understanding
and method to use the past to help understand the present and regain the
power that as a child one didn't have. It is a growing and unique
experience to be able to break the cycle of trauma and violence. |
