Washington Professionals for the Study of Psychoanalysis
(WPSP) was organized in 1980 by a group of psychologists, most of them
clinicians, who were interested in a forum for professional communication
and exploration of the clinical and theoretical aspects of psychoanalysis
from a variety of perspectives. WPSP was one of the first groups to be
admitted as a Local Chapter of Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the
American Psychological Association. What began as a small group, meeting
monthly in members’ homes, has expanded to an organization of over 100
members. The meetings attended not only by our members but by interested
professionals from the wider community. WPSP offers a variety of programs
