Description of Services The Michigan Psychoanalytic Council (MPC) offers advanced training in psychoanalytic theory and technique for an interdisciplinary group of professionals representing primarily the fields of psychology, psychiatry, and social work as well as other disciplines concerned with the meaning of being human. In addition to formal psychoanalytic training, MPC sponsors open scientific meetings on the implications of psychoanalytic theory, research, and practice. Because of expected differences in interests, as well as previous academic and clinical preparation, the courses encompass a blend of classical as well as non-traditional emphases. Students may expect to read Freud as well as a variety of current views of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
